Unified Remote is the result of a hobby project of two Swedish students, Jakob Berglund and Philip Bergqvist, which later turned into a profitable start-up venture. The app was first launched as a free app on Android in 2010, with simple features and support for 13 remote controls for Windows applications. A year later, an improved version was released, as well as a paid (premium) version including more features and remote controls. The latest version was launched in 2014, which included an overhauled user interface and introduced support for iOS, Mac, and Linux.
The application provides many remote controls for various programs. This includes basic mouse and keyboard input and support for media applications, presentation software, and even power functions. The server also provides an open API, which makes it possible for developers to create their own custom remote controls.[11]
There are several different apps on the various app stores that provide similar universal remote control functionality. Other competitors also include official apps for different media applications, which instead provide dedicated remote control functionality for specific applications.
In more recent years, software vendors have begun to target smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs directly, thus making the need for a computer remote control redundant. This is especially apparent within the home entertainment space with products such as Apple TV, AirPlay, and Chromecast.
So, I've recently installed unified remote server on my ubuntu laptop, and everything works perfectly fine until i try to type something, after typing one letter server crashes immediately. Anyone had this problem and know how to fix it? And I would like to point out that I am new to ubuntu.
However, starting the PC or controlling it remotely does not work when I am outside the home network without a VPN.
If I'm in the WLAN, I can easily wake up the PC with the Unified Remote app on my smartphone.
But now I have another problem.
I have opened the port from unified Remote, bit with the app on my android smartphone I can not send the PC to hibernate or shutdown. When I am in the VPN or WLAN so it works.
Hi, I'm a complete LInux noob and i've just switched from windows because i'm tired of microsoft spying on me. For the most part everything has been fine apart from the fact that i cannot for the life of me make unified remote boot on startup.
I currently have the portable version of the app and it works fine if i double click on it but i don't want to do it everytime i boot my computer. I want it to be done automatically.
I tried adding it to the autostartup tab in settings but it still doesn't work.
Microsoft Azure Attestation is a unified solution for remotely verifying the trustworthiness of a platform and integrity of the binaries running inside it. The service supports attestation of the platforms backed by Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs) alongside the ability to attest to the state of Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) such as Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX) enclaves, Virtualization-based Security (VBS) enclaves, Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs), Trusted launch for Azure VMs and Azure confidential VMs.
Attestation is a process for demonstrating that software binaries were properly instantiated on a trusted platform. Remote relying parties can then gain confidence that only such intended software is running on trusted hardware. Azure Attestation is a unified customer-facing service and framework for attestation.
Intel Xeon Scalable processors only support ECDSA-based attestation solutions for remotely attesting SGX enclaves. Utilizing ECDSA based attestation model, Azure Attestation supports validation of Intel Xeon E3 processors and Intel Xeon Scalable processor-based server platforms.
Open Enclave (OE) is a collection of libraries targeted at creating a single unified enclaving abstraction for developers to build TEE-based applications. It offers a universal secure app model that minimizes platform specificities. Microsoft views it as an essential stepping-stone toward democratizing hardware-based enclave technologies such as SGX and increasing their uptake on Azure.
Unified Remote is the most feature-filled computer remote. Turns your device into a WiFi or Bluetooth universal remote control for your Windows PC. Mac and Linux support also available (beta). Control your favorite programs, mouse, and keyboard.
The full version of the Unified Remote app is not only filled with a few dozen exclusive remotes, it also has a lot of advanced remotes. Remotes that give you even more control. The best example is Spotify Advanced where you can completely control the playback from the Spotify app on you PC, from playing a playlist to searching for a song.
