Dear folks,

There are 3 things I wanted to put on your radar -- particularly DC
area people.

1. TAX ON THEATRE TICKETS & AN ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION TO THE CITY'S
BUDGET CRISIS
The City Council wants to impose a tax on theater tickets. It's part
of a larger attempt at dealing with the city's budget crisis of a $500
million deficit. More importantly, the city is also cutting a number
of needed social services. Thanks to a coalition called SAVE OUR
SAFETY NET, this could easily be solved by very slight increase in
taxing higher income bracket. What you can do:

Take 2 MINUTES and sign these 2 petitions:

- Theatre Tax Petition -- Go to: http://helenhayes.org. Click on
the Theatre Tax Petition and submit.

- Save Our Safety Net -- Go to: http://saveoursafetynet.com. Sign the
petition for an alternative solution to the city's budget crisis that
won't take away needed social services.

3. ART (202) Journal: Hyphen - Art as Identity

The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities produced the latest
monthly online journal ART (202). This month is Asian Pacific
Heritage Month, and the Commission featured a few Asian American
artists, including me, Dana Tai Soon Burgess, Anu Yadav, Khanh H. Le,
Jason Ignacio, Carmen C. Wong, Hannah Naomi Kim and Daniel Phoenix
Singh.

Make sure to check out the 4-minute video, a really well-done piece by
local filmmaker Chris Keener, featuring a new short piece I wrote.
