Iam trying to install a font on my iPad but I can't seem to find out how. Help articles mention that I should download a third party app for that, but that seems super weird to me. Surely there must be a normal, supported way to install a font?

It is super unfortunate that a third party app (and configuration profile) is required to install fonts. TTF and OTF are open formats and there's no legitimate reason not to allow users to install them. There's most likely a profit motive, which hurts users for Apple's (and others') bottom line, and fits the definition of "unfortunate".

The iPad User Guide provides information about adding fonts to your iPad. The Guide is a rich source of frequently overlooked information about your iPad and iPadOS. The Guide is available both online using a web browser (such as Safari), or as an Apple Books download:

Many fonts are licensed - and as such require payment of a fee. Others are royalty free - and can be downloaded and installed without payment for their use. That said, many font-installer Apps may be a paid-App in their own right.

This App allows you to install and use many Adobe and royalty-free fonts without charge; you simply need to have a free Adobe account - and be signed-in to your account to install fonts. The font-installation may need to be occasionally refreshed, but this is minor inconvenience for the benefit gained.

Hi. Anki is rendering a readable font size in my Macbook pro. And Ankimobile is rendering a readable font size in my iPhone 7, but not in my iPad Pro 10,5", in which fonts are too big to read the cards.

The specifier needs to be combined with another to make it more specific - otherwise the default .card styling wins. If you are not wrapping your content in a class like jp, the following should work instead.

So I was editing a PDF and I needed to add my name on it. For some reason, Calibri isn't included in the default pre-installed fonts that Adobe offers (weird!). So instead I tried installing it via Creative Cloud in the Fonts section. However, after installing Calibri, I restarted CC and Acrobat and Calibri still isn't available. This is driving me nuts as I just wanted my name to be consistent along with the other parts of my file. Can anyone help me?

We only support fonts that are already on the device for PDF Edit. The same is true for things like annotations too. We don't support changing the font to an embedded font for a host of reasons (some of which include licensing). We have made this a feature request to our engineering team, which we will try to release in a future update.

The font won't display at all, the text boxes just show as blank. If I select another font, that font is displayed on the screen, but when I select the font I installed, nothing happens. It shows up in the dropdown options, but when selected, it will not display on the iPad.

I am having the same issue. Creative cloud is open, fonts installed but when I go into illustrator any creative cloud font I choose shows up blank whereas fonts that came preloaded on the iPad will display the text.

Just got off a difficult chat session with support: uninstalled creative cloud and illustrator, reinstalled them, the fonts are working now but for some reason creative cloud is saying that none of my fonts are synced to my device ... only my computer, with no option to sync. I'm glad the fonts are working but that still doesn't make sense. ????

Hi, has anyone had any other follow up on this? I tried the delete of both CC and Illustrator apps and reinstalled them but all Adobe Fonts installed on the iPad through CC wont work! Not good enough really

If you uninstall, but reinstall via the Creative Cloud app, they should work. However it still wonky for me aka it says I have no fonts to sync BUT they are all available and I see them ... just glad they work at this point!

I'm stuck in the same boat. Deleted CC and Illustrator, reinstalled and my installed font is not visible. That same font appears in Photoshop for iPad. I love this new version of Illustrator, but it's not ready for prime time.

Sorry to hear about this issue. Could you please confirm what type of fonts are these? It might be possible that you have these fonts installed on your Desktop machines and Illustrator on iPad is unable to find them. To Avoid this situation, I would suggest using Adobe fonts so that you can get them on both the platforms. Check out this video for more details ( =VhyLmgUDP3U).

Mine are all adobe fonts. I go and look for new fonts download and they don't work proper in iPad illustrator. I get the first free characters in a line of text but not the entielre font. The rest shows blank. It is defiantly a adobe font and iPad Illustrator issue.

This is constantly happening for me, too. Every time I try to export something I made with Illustrator iPadsd an .svg, it messes up the fonts 99% of the time. Very frustrating and pointless to spend so much time perusing countless fonts when they can't be used. I've triple checked to make sure they've been added to my fonts in Crewruve Suite, but to no avail. Help!

I have the same issue. I admit, I'm a beginner to AI but I use the fonts that come preloaded and when I export to SVG or PNG and then I go to open the file on my iPad the fonts are completely different.

My iPad auto updated Affinity Designer and now the fonts I have installed are not recognizable. I open any document and my typography designs turn in to some default font that I cant change no matter what I try. I have already tried turning my ipad on and off and updating to the newest ios. I have never had a problem on an affinity update but this is extremely frustrating. Some one please let me know if you also experience this and how it can be fixed.

I didn't even try to do that. I told iFonts to install the fonts, and then it downloaded the profile, and I told Settings to complete the install of the font profile. And then the font was available in Designer.

How have you installed the fonts onto your iPad? Have you installed them within Affinity > Preferences, or are you using an external application? If you're using an external application what is it?

Also when you say you 'Open' is that opening a document from the home screen that was already there, or are you opening by clicking + and then Open From Cloud/Import from Cloud?

Does rebooting your iPad help matters at all?

Thanks for that, however we believe your issue is slightly different to the other three posters above and is one that we have reproduced and logged with development. In your case Chinese fonts are failing to appear when the app is set to Chinese (and Japanese fonts when set to Japanese). This is something we do have logged with development. It can currently be worked around by switching the app language to English.

However this isn't the case for the other users who are reporting non-Chinese/Japanese fonts not working. This is something I'm currently investigating and trying to reproduce.

Thanks for that Leslie,

Can you try the following for me please? Make sure you save one of those files to Dropbox, iCloud or 'On my iPad', verify it has saved and then close it from the home screen in Affinity so it doesn't appear. If you reopen that file do the fonts appear correctly?

It seems it's only a quick fix and will glitch right back. This is so frustrating because I need font + drawing to create my pieces for work and I don't want to have to leave affinity designer because of this. Has there been any new news on this? Any fixes? I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I tried all the steps and it just goes back to doing the same thing. Will there be a new update soon? Thank you so much! xo

Thank you for letting us know. I did the update and it looks like the fonts are still red. It sadly did not fix the issue. I use this for my business and I don't know what to do anymore. I can't just save the illustration and then work on the desktop. I need to move fonts around the illustrations to make sure they fit properly. So what happens now? I did the repeat:

I, too, am experiencing this issue (with the same attached image indicated issues above). All of my fonts are stored in a local folder as well as being backed up on a folder inside of my icloud storage, but no matter which location I import them from into Affinity Designer (and Photo for that matter) since the most recent update I get a red highlighted font name and the font appears in a system font. Normal systemwide fonts seem to all work properlly, but personally purchased or created fonts do not. What is worse is that if I reinstall the font, the font will be recognized until I close the document out of the launch windo and reopen or open a separate font with a commonly (recently reconnected) font family. I have tried closing the app(s) and reinstalling all fonts into the program(s), hard resetting my device, uninstalling and reinstalling the program(s), and reinstalling each font individually. So far, I am only able to come to one conclusion and that is that I am spinning my wheels because nothing is conclusively working for me. Help!

Absolutely! These seemingly little things concerning screen design can have a huge impact. Interestingly, Evernote seems to react in the same way as Joplin: Dynamic text is only available on Android, not on iOS, where increasing system font size only affects note titles, not note bodies. When I was still an Evernote user, I submitted a feature request, but developers were busy (and still are) turning Evernote into a full-fledged task management app and didn't care for usability issues.
