Title: Administrative burdens and access to health care
Abstract: Administrative burdens are non-monetary "costs" that people may experience when trying to access services or benefits. This talk will explain how the concept of administrative burdens can be applied to understand the barriers that people experience
when attempting to access health care services. I will argue that administrative burdens are not spread evenly throughout a population, but systematically pose more difficulties for disadvantaged population groups, impeding their access to health care and
exacerbating other inequalities. I will also discuss some potential implications for distributive justice and public policy.
