AntWordProfiler quits

Hi Professor Anthony and Group Members,

I have been experimenting with using AntWordProfiler with the goal of helping students screen native-level ebooks for their own extensive reading plans. It seems that I am doing something wrong when I try to open the BNC/COCA word families lists in AntWordProfiler. The app will allow me to open the 1k word families list (6961 words including headwords + related forms), but the app immediately closes when I then try to upload the 2k word families list (6429 words in total). This happens on both my office PC, and on my Macbook. 

My word lists are .txt file format. I have tried these lists in both simple, straight list form, and in a format with the headword on the left, and family members indented (as in the attached 1k and 2k lists). 

Can you offer me any insight as to what I might be doing wrong? I would be super grateful if you could offer me any tips on opening the BNC/COCA word families lists as reference files.

I just wanted to come back to say that my problem was easily resolved by using the AntFileConverter to convert my BNC/COCA list files to .txt, and then deleting any blank lines between list items in the .txt files. My students have gotten a kick out of using AntWordProfiler to screen books.

Sorry to not reply earlier and thanks for the update. Good to know that you were able to resolve the problem.

It would be interesting to know what the original problem was. You say that you needed to convert the lists to text. Were they not text already? My guess is that the file format was the problem.
