Hi Laura and Dick,

In past years we have supported this program and kept our lake association information current.  I would suggest you update the contact info to our association email and remove mine.

Hope all is well!
Connie

Registration is now open for the Lakes and Rivers Convention
Important Information for Lake Organizations
January 2022
Good afternoon Connie,
We are sending this message to all our lake organization contacts found in the Wisconsin Lake List. Please check your group’s listing in the Lake List Directory and email us your updates. You can look up your group and send updates here.

We send these emails monthly to keep people posted and share important news. We hope you find this information beneficial.
Registration is Open for the 2022 Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Convention, April 6-8, Stevens Point
After two years of virtual Conventions, we are looking forward to gathering in person for the 2022 Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Convention, scheduled for April 6-8 in Stevens Point. For 2022, we are structuring the Convention around the theme: Protecting What We Love for the Future. Wednesday will feature intensive workshops, while Thursday and Friday's schedule includes dozens of educational presentations in six concurrent topical streams. Explore the Convention activities and register here (save 20% if you register by March 1).
Face coverings will be required at this indoor event while Portage County is at the “high” or “substantial” community transmission level for coronavirus. Should the transmission rate change for the better, we may update this requirement in accordance with CDC masking guidance. The health and safety of our presenters and attendees is important to us, so please bring a mask for each day you are attending. Thank you for your understanding and compliance.

Scholarships
We want to make sure everyone who would like to attend this event is able, so please apply for a scholarship if you have the need and give to the scholarship fund if you have the ability. Learn more about scholarships here.

Become a Sponsor
Show your support of the Convention by becoming a sponsor or business, non-profit, or virtual exhibitor! Visit the website for more details.

Make Your Hotel Reservations Now
The Stevens Point Holiday Inn is now accepting reservations for overnight lodging associated with the convention. All the rooms in our block tend to sell out, so we encourage making reservations early. Find details for making a reservation and see updates as they develop at this link.

"Why I Love My Water" Video Montage: Share your answer! - Extended Deadline: Feb. 7
We'd like to feature individuals and groups from across Wisconsin who love their water (i.e. lakes, rivers, and other waterbodies) during the Convention. In 20 seconds or less, tell us why you love your water. Use your phone or other device to record and then upload your video file on this form or email your video to uwex...@uwsp.edu. We intend to take the video clips and assemble them together in a video montage. Please submit your video clip by Feb. 7.

Wisconsin Water Week - First week in April
Water is fundamental to Wisconsin’s identity. Wisconsin Water Week is a time for everyone and anyone to learn more about what’s happening with our precious water resources and how they can be involved in protecting and restoring it. In addition to the Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Convention in Stevens Point, Water Week offers additional in-person and online opportunities for people to connect and engage on water-related issues. Are you planning a meeting or another event to happen some time in the spring? Consider scheduling your event the first week of April and include it in the listing of Water Week events. Learn more at wisconsinwaterweek.org!
Shoreline Living Magazine - Order a case today!

My Lakeshore Field Journal - Order a case for your organization and/or event
If you are part of an organization that provides educational experiences for children related to water, or if you have the ability to get these Journals into the hands of children, we invite you to order a case (or more) to be distributed. We are only asking you to pay for shipping ($30 for 140 copies!). If interested, visit the Extension Lakes bookstore and click on My Lakeshore Field Journal.
Looking for Lake Habitat Funding?
The Midwest Glacial Lakes Partnership (MGLP) is accepting funding requests up until February 18, 2022. MGLP has directed funding toward a wide range of aquatic conservation projects that benefit imperiled, endangered, and recreational fish species and their habitats. They typically fund 3-5 projects annually between $30,000 and $100,000, but larger projects will be considered for funding up to a maximum of the approximately $360,000. Full details can be found by clicking here.
Upcoming Events
Wisconsin Wetlands Science Conference - Online, Feb. 15-17
The theme for the 2022 Wetland Science Conference, Coming Together for Wetlands and Watersheds, reflects the fundamental belief that wetland and watershed conservation is a collective challenge and opportunity.
