Dear colleagues,

As previously announced, the 1st online DTS Hackathon will run 27 September - 8 October 2021, and is funded by the dhCenter UNIL-EPFL and the École Nationale des Chartes. The hackathon is open to DH researchers, research software developers/engineers, and more generally to anyone with responsibilities involving writing code and software to publish texts online, in any language and from any period and area.

Registrations to the hackathon are now open and will close on 24.09.2021.

To register, you need to fill out this registration form and – if you already have a team and a hack idea to work on during the event – communicate this to us by creating a GitHub issue (in the registration form you can then provide us with the link to your hack idea).

For those who would like to join the hackathon but have not identified yet what to work on, fear not, this is totally possible. We recommend you to keep an eye on the list of hack ideas that are being put forward, and if anything catches your attention you can get in touch with the proponent, start discussing it further and eventually form a team. All collected ideas will be pitched by their proponent(s) on the first day of the hackathon.

The hackathon scheduled is as follows:

  • 1st week (27.09-03.10)

    • 27.09, Zoom 17:00 (CEST): pitch of hack ideas

    • 28.09, 23:59 (CEST): team registration closes

  • 2nd week (04.10-08.10)

    • 04.10, Zoom 17:00 (CEST): mid-hackathon check-in (optional)

    • 08.10, Zoom 17:00 (CEST): presentation of hack results (with jury) + hackathon ends

(All zoom links to the planned synchronous sessions will be communicated by email at due time to registered participants).

Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch with us at matteo.r...@unil.ch or pietro...@uni-hamburg.de.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Matteo Romanello and Pietro Liuzzo
