We are pleased to announce that the Call for Papers is now open for the 13th edition of the Digital Humanities Benelux Conference, taking place 2–5 June 2026 at Maastricht University.

Conference Theme: Digital Storytelling

The Digital Humanities Benelux 2026 conference invites participants to explore the intersection of digital technologies and storytelling. We aim to examine how digital tools, approaches, and methodologies are reshaping the ways we create, analyse, preserve, and share stories across disciplines, cultures, and time.

From computational analyses of large textual corpora and interactive multimodal narratives to virtual exhibitions, immersive listening, and extended reality experiences, digital storytelling encourages new literacies and approaches to narrative forms and functions. We welcome critical examinations of how digital storytelling serves as knowledge production and dissemination, and reflections on ongoing and completed digital storytelling projects.

Submission Topics Include:

• Narrative analysis through distant reading and visualization
• Quantitative text analysis for narrative generation and interpretation (machine learning, NLP, LLMs, stylometry)
• Digital archives and preservation
• Non-linear and interactive narratives
• Multimodal storytelling and AI narrative construction
• Ethics and biases in constructing digital stories
• Digital storytelling in research dissemination and critical approaches to digital narratives
• Digital pedagogy and social justice 
• Data visualisation as narrative and turning data into stories
• Immersive digital narratives (3D and Extended Reality)
• Creative approaches in Digital Humanities research praxis
• Tool development integrating narrative principles and user interactions

We especially encourage submissions that highlight how digital storytelling can break down academic silos, foster interdisciplinary collaborations, and connect the humanities with diverse societal actors and other disciplines.
