Welcome to February Warmahordesers! We have a fair bit - scratch
that, a ton going on so take your time, have a read, and get involved
in your local scene.
COMMUNITY
FloodMachine
http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showforum=358
When your favourite and most handsome of the Antipodean Thralls saw
the rampant devastation in Queensland last month, he simply couldn't
stand by and do nothing. Calling the super special justice friends of
Australia together, AKA the local gaming community, we've come up with
a whole event package named FloodWar for several gaming systems, and
now have events all over the place.
Yours truly was lucky enough to be invited onto the Lost Hemisphere
podcast recently to do an interview about the charity event, you can
find it here at
http://losthemisphere.com/blog/?p=11599 or on iTunes
under the Lost Hemisphere Podcast. Not only have the boys been good
enough to spread the word, they have a few initiatives of their own in
play, and meanwhile Sam of Guts n' Gears has donated a ton of stuff to
the cause.
FloodMachine is what you lot should all be concerned with, as not only
is it an excuse to play for charity in your favourite game ever, the
events use tokens (similar to the Breast Cancer Brawl) and every $10
of tokens purchased at an official Australian FloodMachine event will
get you one ticket into the National FloodMachine Raffle which has
some fantastic prizes, including two massive armies! Get over to the
WGAU forum section
http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showforum=358
today to find your local event, a rules pack covering several gaming
systems - and hey, if there IS no local event, run one! It's not as
hard as it looks to be as dashing and handsome as your shameless and
hard working Press Gangers and other TO's, and it's all for a great
cause!
Antipodean Thralls Newsletter
http://groups.google.com/group/antipodeanthralls
Spread the word and get every player, club, and store you know to sign
up for the list so they too can get monthly information packets
delivered right to their email. Always remember you can mail me via
the address at the bottom of the newsletter, or PM me via the
WargamerAU or PrivateerPress forums with relevant information to
include in future newsletters, or just for comments/critique and other
requests.
Road to War
http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showforum=343
The Road to War is winding up, with new posts from this point forward
not counting towards the judging of prizes. Your Antipodean PG are
all afuss trying to decide on who to nominate for the community voted
Antipodean prize - a shiny print from the PP store, delivered to the
winners door! Keep an eye on the forums for the voting, it should be
up soon.

Arcanacon
(
http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=110319)
Getting 41 players on the day, with an unfortunate few signing up and
just not giving word they weren't coming, everyone had a blast. The
room was hot, both in body and spirit, but all had a great time on
both days including possibly the most pleasant finals matches anyone's
ever seen
Arcanacon Championship Winners
1st: Michael Blyth (Cryx)
2nd: Trent Denison (Cryx)
3rd: David Potts (Skorne)

Cancon

The ACT champion ship is a little more HardCore than that at the
Arcanacon - literally! Despite a list hickup modifying the standings
halfway through and a final result gained from Strength of Schedule,
great fun was had by all, with a fantastic 23 fully painted armies
(including 3 new players!) showcasing just how awesome Privateer
models look!
1st: Rohan Langeveld, Cryx
2nd: Jason Cooper, Cygnar
3rd: Jonathan Moore, Cryx
4th: Dan Pikmer, Cryx

FINAL WORD
My pet project at the moment is FloodWar, so you'll forgive me for
pimping it just one more time! If you have an event near you, get in
there, and if you don't, run one! There's an easy to use document in
the main thread on WargamerAU, plenty of extra incentive for players
with the Australian FloodMachine National Raffle, and a good amount of
competition with each state to see who'll raise the most. More
importantly than anything, though, a lot of us have been up to
Queensland and had a great time playing Warmachine and Hordes up there
- let's see if we can't give a little back, and help out our north
eastern bretheren?
And as always, PLAY LIKE YOU'VE GOT A PAIR.
Regards,
Terry Masson
