I read today that Oliver DeMille is experiencing health problems,
specifically "advanced thyroid and adrenal failure". I wish him well
and hope that he can achieve a full and complete recovery.

I will answer my own question:

Dear Friends,

Many of you have contacted us to express concern over Oliver's health.
He has cancelled a number of appearances for the next several months
in order to focus more intently on regaining his health.

Oliver is experiencing advanced thyroid and adrenal failure. His
efforts to reverse the degeneration while maintaining his travel
schedule have failed, so he has finally submitted to doctor-
recommended lifestyle changes that should reverse the course of the
disease. Although his teaching and travel schedule may be somewhat
reduced, he continues in his leadership role with George Wythe
College.

This is a very serious condition, and we are taking it very seriously.
We are optimistic that the lifestyle changes that nature and the
doctor have urged upon us will facilitate his return to full health.
Feel free to share this information with others who may have concerns.
We appreciate your prayers.

Warmly,

Rachel DeMille

No, Rachel DeMille did not post that here on the Anti GWC

I find it interesting that we, as members of a civilized society, feel the obligation to hope for someone else's good health, even when we disagree with them on ethical grounds, and feel their behavior and choices they make is harmful to others and society. I don't see any reason, philosophically, why we should hope for his speedy recover. I am not so sick as to hope for his death, or continued suffering, but I'm not saying any prayers for his recovery either. When you devote your life to cheating, stealing, and taking advantage of others, you have to know that eventually karma will bitch-slap you in the end.

See... this is the kind of shit I'm talking about "He has been such an inspiration and a force for many TJErs. I do hope he is able to regain his health and resume his all-too important work." (from the same site you fould the letter from Mrs. DeMille)

People need to wake up. And anyone who continues to pull them back to the dark holes of their twisted sub-realities is a bad person. Or rather, behaving in a bad way. I hope he recovers, but not before my hope that tries to reverse all the psychological and financial damage he has done.

I agree with everything that you said, but I am a member of a
civilized society. I have had family members die of terrible diseases.
Therefore, you can see where I am coming from. I wish anyone well who
is sick.

However, something tells me that alternative "medicine", a witch
doctor, faith healer, or somebody who didn't get a conveyor belt
medical education is DeMille's doctor.

Also, if he dies, he will be memorialized and remembered as something
that he isn't. I don't want him to go before he can stand before his
followers and admit that they are punk'd.

This is where we differ. I am willing to be critical of him as a
person: of his deceptions, embellishments, behavior, etc. But I guess
I draw the line at ad hominem attacks that have nothing to do with the
subject at hand, for example criticizing his personal hygiene, his
weight, or not caring if he dies from his illness (I'm not saying
you're doing any of those things, I'm just illustrating my point).
There's enough to criticize without going below the belt.

He'll likely never admit that. And whenever he dies he'll be memorialized no matter what. I don't think I'm less civilized for being apathetic and ambivalent toward his health. If I were to wish every person well all the time, my wishes would dull in significance and value. I owe DeMille nothing.

If we differ over what makes for a civilized society, maybe we should
propose this to the GWC statesmanship invitational. They will solve
all of the worlds differences through statesmanship. I need to check
my mailbox, maybe I was invited! I hope I win the invitational!

They'll probably make a cumbersome "simulation" out of this where they dress up, pretend that they are congress, debate about it (a worthless issue) for about five minutes, and then break off rambling about who is more like Thomas Jefferson, while proposing and passing stupid legislation to get rid of the Department of Education, get rid of the FBI, mandate a classical education, and then get rid of the goverment altogether.
