to ANTI GWC
Hello;
I am a former grad student of GWC. I enrolled in the distance studies
program to pursue an M.A. and was astounded by the experience. I
earned my B.A. from a "traditional" research university and thought a
liberal arts school might be a nice way to balance my educational
experience, but GWC is NOT a liberal arts college--it is a joke! Here
are some of the things I experienced:
*During class lectures (conducted via conference calls), the
"instructor" (who had only a bachelor's degree) offered a prayer at
the beginning of the phone call
* Another "instructor" used class lecture times to advertise his
business and sign up a few students as recruits; instructors also
regularly encouraged us students to participate in GWC's mulit-level
marketing conference/seminar program.
* Oral exams, conducted via conference calls, allowed me to listen in
on other students' exams. Imagine my surprise when several students
were awarded "high honors" for oral exams in which they failed to
answer any questions because they had not read a single book from the
assigned list! Indeed, one student amitted to not having read a
single page yet, but after she answered each question with an anti-
public school/anti-government tirade, the instructors awarded her
"high honors." I dropped out the next day!
I would like to be active in telling others not to waste their money;
I have also contacted the accreditation board responsible for GWC's
application for accreditation, and am trying to get them to take a
look at a summary of my experiences there!
