I love two things about a lot of the GWC / TJEd writings I read:

1. The humility; they acknowledge they're an insignificant blip in the
grand scheme of things
2. The propensity to get right to the point without beating around the
bush with irrelevant quotes and anecdotes from past world leaders;
they don't name drop; they state their points humbly and succinctly

I'm highly entertained that they begin this proposal with the quote:
"The ones who come out on top are the ones

who have been trained in the hardest school."

~Thucydides~
If no one else can see irony here they should slap themself.

hahahaha "Much of the introductory sections were written by Oliver DeMille. Used by permission."    What's he going to do, sue his own school?  All I have to say is that they've butchered their already skimpy chances at accreditation because by bundling "university" into the load of crap they're asking the AALE to swallow is at least one bite too many.

You know the AALE specializes in low-standards schools, right? Which
is why they were barred from accepting applications by the US DOE for
12 months, from Dec 06 to Dec 07. Of course, GWC submitted its
application before Dec 06, which might possibly explain the GWC's
accreditation delay: when GWC initially submitted its application, it
might have looked like a slam-dunk from both sides. However, in light
of the DOE sanctions AALE might be rethinking its own strategy in an
effort to avoid future punishment, and has therefore put applications
from GWC-type schools on the back burner. But who knows...

Yes, I looked over their "standards" for accreditation, and they were considerably lax. But i'm with you in thinking that it's a msarter move for their image if they deny GWC, and I think they realize that. If they were to pass "George Wythe College" through the hoop that's one thing, but "george Wythe University", founded on absolutely nothing, accrediting them is like activating a neon sign that says "we don't know how to be selective in our accreditation." If they're as smart as I hope, then calling themselves a "university" is a lethal deathblow on the part of GWC.

However, perhaps GWC has come to terms with its accreditation "chances" and is using the "university" title as a bludgeon to beat their way back to a respectable place when they announce to their students "well, accreditation doesn't matter after all, it's all assembly-line style anyway, I mean look, we're a friggin University for christ's sake, we don't need accreditation."
