REMINDER: Tonight, November 15th!

We are excited to present Brenda J. Gannam as our featured poet for the month of November.
Brenda, Arab-American poet, artist, and writer, has been a member of the New York creative community for 28 years, and has made Brooklyn her home since 1980.

Brenda has been influenced by the metaphysical, spiritual, and symbolist aspects of poetry, as expressed in the works of Akhmatova, Szymborska, Verlaine & Rimbaud, Rilke, Péguy, Gibran, Rumi, Al Khoury, Masefield, McCrae, and Pasternak.

Her poetry reveals powerful spiritual messages embedded in everyday phenomena. Simple subjects with underlying metaphysical and Jungian themes are treated primarily in free verse, with internal rhyme and alliteration, and often words and phrases from other languages.

Although very few of her poems may be considered “rhyming,” if you listen carefully, you will hear the intrinsic musicality of her word pairings and phrasing.

Brenda’s poetry and prose have appeared in a number of journals and anthologies, in print and online -- and she has won awards for both her poems and her haiku.

Following Brenda's reading will be the open mic, so please come down and join us.
