I never had this occur before, I did have to reinstall Jutoh on my new laptop and all seemed well.

On setting the configuration to Kindle, on Compile I am getting 2 files generated at the same time. A Kindle enhanced ePub and a separate Mobi file.

The Mobi is twice as large as the Kindle ePub.

The Kindle ePub works and looks well in the Kindle Previewer.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

The mobi format can be useful for sideloading, but most people won't need it. You can prevent it being generated by clicking Options, then in Helpers, choosing Kindle-optimized Epub in the Kindle generation control.

Julian

According to Claude.ai: AZW3 - Amazon's newer format, better compression and formatting than MOBI. MOBI vs AZW3: AZW3 is superior because it supports better typography, enhanced formatting, and smaller file sizes. Amazon has been moving away from MOBI, so AZW3 is more future-proof.

Mobi per Amazon will still work, it was reported, but they now emphasize mandatory migration to ePub (Kindle) as a popup stating better tools to use.

I also received a message on editing content last night on two books (printed before the change) that suggested the current mobi files be replaced / updated with ePub (Kindle) files.

So I did it seamlessly.
