Cover?

Quick question. Why is it necessary to import the cover into our epub files? When I publish on KDP, D2D, etc, they ask for the cover during that process. Just wondering if I need it in my epub file.

Hi Rebecca,

It's not strictly necessary to include a cover in the Epub file, but when previewing, or if you send the file to someone, it's nice to see the cover. Sometimes it could remind you that you're previewing an old version of your book.

As you say, most services will ask for a separate cover file and use that instead of the one in the Epub file.
