Hi Julian,
I'm trying something new with a book's chapter openings and graphics, but I'm stumped and not even sure of the right terminology. What I'd like to do is have the chapter number, then a solid black line below it, and then the chapter title below that.

But, I can't seem to figure out how to do the graphics in Jutoh. I've seen graphics below your chapter numbers in some of the samples, so I'm sure it's doable. But I'm not sure sure what that topic is called. (It doesn't seem to fit "Insert-symbols".)

I'd also like the solid line to lengthen or shrink to fit the page width (without breaking to the line below), whatever the size of the screen. I've seen this done in some ebooks, though I have no idea what program was used to build them.

Thanks for any help with this,
C.G.

Hello,

You could use an image, but in the Jutoh book (you can download the project from https://www.jutoh.com/books) I use a horizontal rule object (Insert | Horizontal Rule). You can put it on the same line as the chapter number since otherwise the spacing can be too much.

You can click on the rule object to edit properties, so you could use e.g. 100% to fill the page width, and you can change the thickness (e.g. 2px for the height).

I hope that helps.

Regards,

Julian
