Does anyone know how to remove or reduce the left padding on a bullet list?

Hi Antonio,

The indent between the bullet and the text is approximately the difference between the "Left indent" and "Left indent (first line)" in the "List Style/Spacing" tab of the style formatting dialog.

However, I could never make custom list indentation work with Kindle - it always added too much space - so for Kindle configurations, the configuration option "Use default list indentation" is checked, causing the custom spacing to be ignored.

Regards,

Julian

Thanks for the info. But I was referring at the space between the left margin and the bullet. I set the  "Left indent" on the list style, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on Adobe Digital Editions. Maybe it doesn't work for that application?

That's good info, but not exactly what I was looking for. I want to reduce the spacing to the left of the bullet.
Thanks.

Sorry about the delay, Google Groups marked the post as spam.

Left indent should work but only when specified in a particular Level, not the overall list style.

Failing that, it's worth checking that "Use default list indentation" is cleared for the configuration you're using.

Julian

I must be missing something.
I checked  "Use default list indentation" and it's turned off.
When editing the list style, the only place I can see that I can set indentation is in the "Indents & Spacing" tab. But there is nothing there to set list level, so no way that I can see to specify "in a particular Level, not the overall list style." At any rate, I tried to set the "left" and "Left (first line)" indents and there was no difference on the output (using Adobe Digital Editions). I opened the epub with "Examine epub", and the indent values I set are nowhere in the style sheet or the html page where the styled text exists.

Hi Antonio,

If you edit a list style, as opposed to a paragraph style (that may be masquerading as a list style by having 'List' in its name) there's an Indents & Spacing tab, and then there's a List Style tab. You need to click on List Style, which shows bullet and spacing settings for the currently selected level. Click on the Spacing sub-tab to see the settings for that list level.

Julian

The "Spacing" tab next to "Bullet Style"! For some reason, no matter how long I looked at that window, I just didn't notice that tab. I knew I was missing something!
Thank you!
