What is the most efficient workflow for moving from a print boook designed in InDesign to a reflowable ebook I'll create in Jutoh?

I'm about to start working on a book that is composed mainly of images. I'm using my ancient (CS6) version of InDesign to create the paperback. From the Export options in InDesign, it looks as if I can export either an epub or a set of HTML files and then import into Jutoh. Which option is best for importing into Jutoh -- or doesn't it matter?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

With limited export formats from InDesign, I think importing the Epub
into Jutoh would be your best option, though it will probably need a bit
of cleanup afterwards.

Others may have real-world experience and more pertinent suggestions!

Julian

Hi David,I make epub from InDesign on a daily basis.
My workflow is as follows:
* I do all formatting in InDesign strictly with styles. This is
recommended anyway if you are making a book.
* I export the book material to RTF.
* I save the RTF as DOCX in Word.
* I convert the DOCX to ICML using Pandoc (command line: pandoc %myfile%
-s -t icml -o %myfile%.icml) This results in extremely clean raw
material, much cleaner than importing directly from DOCX into Jutoh.
By importing this into Jutoh, there is little or no tweaking of styles.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for this workflow -- I hadn't known about pandoc, and it never would have occurred to me to export to RTF!

I have not heard of Pandoc. Is that a program?
