Good day.

Ever since I updated m Kindle Previewer to 3.93.0, a few days ago, my centered images in my ePubs when in the app now slide all the images to the left side. They are no longer centered.

I am about to drop a number of items to the Kindle store and want to see if there is an issue I am doing. But I have not changed my process for working my documents.

On previous builds and previews before the update, the ePubs looked as designed.

I have used the 'Center' based on Normal, space after 50.

I tried even 'Body Text Centered', same result.

Has anyone else had that issue. If you have updated your KPrev, can you tell me what Style you are using if the preview is successful?

Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry to hear that. If you can send me a Jutoh project file I'll take a look.

Thanks,

Julian

My previous ePubs built before the change have images all as designed when placed into the K Previwer. Centered. Just a note.

The previous setting on the images was the style Center 1B, before I tried the Body Text Center 1B, which worked well for the previous ePubs. On this one, they both failed and the image slides to the left.

Hi Rolly,

Thanks for the project file.

The problem was that you were using the regular (non-Kindle) Epub configuration to build the file, and not the Kindle configuration - which creates a Kindle-optimised file, but more importantly, doesn't include some fixes intended to help with Adobe Digital Edition quirks when it comes to centring images.

So using the Kindle configuration should fix it.

To fix the TOC error messages you're also getting when compiling, just update the TOC via Book | Update.

Regards,

Julian

Quick question, Julian. according to KB0437 I did what was requested " If you don't need .mobi files, you can tell Jutoh to avoid the Kindlegen (Epub-to-Mobi) step by going to Preferences/Helpers, and setting the option Kindle file generation method to None (Kindle-optimized Epub only).

On the build, do I still have to change the configuration in the Build section from 'ePub' to 'Kindle', or not?

Thank you.

Last question, please. I did what was asked on KB0437:  If you don't need .mobi files, you can tell Jutoh to avoid the Kindlegen (Epub-to-Mobi) step by going to Preferences/Helpers, and setting the option Kindle file generation method to None (Kindle-optimized Epub only).

When I build the ePub, does the Build section with the Configuration selection need to be placed to 'Kindle"? Or by the above step, is the configuration selection already made?

There is no silly question.

Thank you.

Believe it or not, I thought it may be this. I considered that when I read Amazon stopped using mobi, and they noted that ePub were a preferred format for submission. I just clicked the message about the Kindle optimization off during
the ePub build and dived in.

Thanks about the TOC.

Hi Rolly,

Glad that helped.

In this case, no, checking "Generate Epub" in the Kindle configuration is optional; Jutoh will use the global setting in Preferences/Helpers and assume you wanted to create the .epub.
