I got six Invalid External Link errors from the Kindle Previewer Beta quality check. I'd just updated the Previewer.

It says To ensure that links are understandable to all readers, include a self-describing link title in addition to the URL. Self-describing link titles provide the reader with specific context of what the link will open. Avoid phrases such as "click here," "see more," or "additional details". Also avoid repetitive links within the same page of content.

So is this a matter of inserting an html href with title? Or is there any other way.

Hi David,

I suspect that this is telling you to use text other than the link itself or text that's too vague, rather than using any special feature.

Recent Jutoh updates do allow you to specify a label for a URL that is used to describe the link for accessibility purposes, but generally this isn't available to a sighted user, and anyway better practice is to make the link text more explanatory for all users without introducing two pieces of text associated with the link.

I haven't come across this warning yet but I'll look out for it. Probably Amazon is preparing for EU accessibility rules that come into force next month.

Regards,

Julian
