Homework #9 & #10
This is the last homework and it will count as two homework
assignments or 20 points.
1. Read the book Savages by Joe Kane.
2. Answer the following questions to hand in. A page or two is fine.
A. Should Maxus Oil Co. be allowed to explore for oil, build roads,
oil wells and pipelines on the Huaorani land in the Oriente? Why or
why not?
B. If not, what alternative do you have to develop Ecuador and the
Oriente? Remember that there are many competing interests in the
world and you can't be ethnocentric.
C. Should the government and missionaries build schools to civilize
the Huaorani? Why or why not?

* Note: Remember you are an anthropologist with enough experience
under your belt to provide thoughtful answers to these questions in
light of all you have learned about globalization and applied
anthropology.
