Any parents interested in running for next year? I haven't known a parent to sit on the PVRC the entire 4 years I've lived here but would be great to have someone to advocate for families. If anyone decides to run let us all know so we can go out and vote for you.

Subject: [PV-Announce] PVRC Elections 2017-2018
To: pv-an...@uci.edu

Attention All PV Residents!

The election process for the Palo Verde Resident's Council is about to begin! The PVRC enables Palo Verde residents to participate in community decision-making process and exercise oversight over fund appropriations for community events, improvements, and so forth.  Now is your chance to become more involved in your community!

A candidate's eligibility is contingent upon the following criteria:

-Residency in Palo Verde Housing since at least September of the current academic year
-Attendance of at least one public PVRC meeting
-Contacting the Election's Commissioner to announce intention to run by Friday, May 5th.
-Attending one PVRC information session (if unable to attend either session, please contact me before the deadline to obtain the necessary information):

—Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017 at 6:00pm in the PV Lounge or
—Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 at 5:00pm in the PV Lounge

Residents interested in running for a seat must inform the Election Commissioner of their intent to run by FRIDAY, MAY 5TH at 5pm. Any resident interested in running for a council seat may submit a Candidate Statement (max 250 words), also due by May 5th.

**CAMPAIGNING*** Campaigning rules are listed in detail in the PVRC bylaws (https://sites.google.com/site/paloverderescouncil/policies-1), and can begin from the day the candidate statements are released to the community (May 8th) until the close of voting.

Candidates will also be required to attend a Candidate Forum (community meet and greet) on Thursday, May 11th 6pm-7pm (unless they have otherwise informed the Election Commissioner).

Voting will take place on EEE over 3 days between May 15 - May 19th. If you are a nonstudent resident of Palo Verde and would like to vote in the election, please see the instructions for obtaining a UCInetID at http://www.oit.uci.edu/ucinetid/resnet/. Voting will also take place in person in the PV Office, as well as during tabling sessions in the community (Locations and Times TBA).

******************************************

If you have any questions or would like to declare your candidacy, contact the election commissioner (Rebecca Thompson) at rebe...@uci.edu.  Now is your chance to become involved in your community!
