Hello,  I'm using AntConc for a university project. I encountered an issue concerning "Hide words in file": when I select "Global settings" -> "Tools filters" -> "Add file" I upload a file TXT with words that I want to hide in my analysis (-> "Hide words in file"). However, some of them still show up. All of these are italian accented words. How can I solve the issue? Thanks for your help.

Hi,

What you are doing should work. If only the accented characters are not being hidden, it suggests that the words are not UTF-8 encoded properly. If you add one of the accented words manually using the Add button, does it get hidden? I suggest you check the encoding of your original list file.

I hope this helps.

Laurence.

Hello,
I used EncodeAnt to convert the file to UTF-8, but still the issue is manifested only with accented words. Through "Tool Filters" the Add button allows me to upload a file, not words manually.
Thank you for your time.

Hi,

Can you send me an edited version of your list of words, with just 3 or 4 accented words in it that are not working correctly? I'm guessing that the encoding is still a problem.

Laurence.

Hello,
enclosed you will find two copies of the list. One of them was converted using EncodeAnt. I tried to add both copies, but the issue persisted.
Thanks again for your help.
