Hi
I have built a tagged corpus using TagAnt and, when I open it using AntConc, I see all of the tags.

In previous versions, there is an option on Global Settings where I can just hide those tags. Is there anything I can do in this version (4.2.0) to work with a tagged corpus?
For example, the tags mess up with word count.

Is there any article I can read or tutorial I can watch to work with tags in this version?

Thank you,
Dan

Hi Dan,

I just replied to the same question you posted on YouTube, as I explain there, assuming the tags are a standard form (e.g. dog_NN), go to File->Open Corpus Manager and choose the raw files options there. In the basic settings, choose the word_pos_headword indexer and click create. Then, you should have complete control over searching and viewing the tags in the main interface via the tool settings. I hope that helps!

Laurence.

Thank you very much. I was struggling to hide the punctuation and numbers as well, but then I found out the option "filter words" under Global Settings and thus was able to create a document with the characters I wanted to hide using Notepad. You, sir, are a blessing. Thank you very much. I am writing a final paper for my graduate degree. Can I write your name on my "acknowledgements" page?

Hi Isabel,

In AntConc 4x, things are much simpler. When you create your corpus in the corpus manager, choose the "simple_word_tag_headword" indexer option. Then, after the corpus is loaded, you can use the tag option in the global settings (or in each tool separately) to choose which annotation layer you want to show.

Let me know if that works for you.

Laurence.

Dear Professor,
I tried to use the shortcuts <ctrl><return> to show words and tags, and <return> to hide tags and show words but I couldn't on AntConc 4.2.0
Is there a way to hide/show tags within each tool without using each tool setting?

Thanks and best regards,
Isabel
