New release of AntConc (4.3.0 beta 1)

Dear All,

I'm happy to announce a new release of AntConc (ver. 4.3.0 beta 1) that integrates traditional corpus methods with Large Language Models (LLMs) via a new 'ChatAI' tool.

I've kept the new version as a beta version for now, so I can get everybody's feedback. Currently, the new version is available for Windows and MacOS (Silicon), with releases for MacOS (Intel) and Linux coming soon.

For now, the LLMs included all come from OpenAI, but later, I hope to add open source/open weights models. To use this new tool, you will need to provide an API key from OpenAI and you will be charged by OpenAI for usage as you would for normal API calls. But, I think the integration should enable some interesting new experiments. 

Check out the help guide for instructions on how to use the new tool. Just make sure that you read the warnings in red before you start!

Is it possible to reference an OpenAI LLM indirectly through OpenRouter?

Hi John,

In some way, the concept behind the ChatAI tool in AntConc is that the user doesn't have to worry about the API and can communicate directly with the LLM through the ChatAI interface. In the backend, at the moment, I'm using OpenAI API calls, but once I add more open source and open weight LLMs, I'll be shifting to a more generic API like OpenRouter.  Does that answer your question?
