Hello,
I watched your AntConc videos on youtube. I want to ask something about AntConc. Does it support other languages and alphabets.
Thanks.

Hi Cihan,

As I said in the other thread, yes, AntConc supports all the world's languages and alphabets. Just make sure to save your text data in the UTF-8 encoding to avoid complications. Word and PDF files should work fine without any change.

Laurence.

Hi, Thank you for the information.

I have two more questions. First, is there a setting that will allow me to take a phrase consisting of more than one word as a word in the word list? (For example "teşekkür etmek" consist of two word. I want to take "teşekkür+etmek" one word.)

Secondly, the same word with a capital "İ" in the first letter and a lowercase "i" in the first letter (For example İyi- iyi) shows up as two separate words in the word list. Is there a solution to this? Thank you in advance.

Hi Cihan,

For your first question, the answer is unfortunately no. You could artificially add + to groups of words that you want to treat as single word units, or you could create a word list with all the multi-word units (MWUs) that you want to process, but with the default settings, this cannot be done.

As for your second question, the default settings should ignore case. If you click the case option, then they will be treated separately.

I hope that helps!
Laurence.
