Hi!
I'm a student and I'm working for my PhD degree.
I'm using Antconc for a linguistic analysis and I have 2 questions:
a) Can you explain me how to read the Keyword list and Keyness?

b) about the T-Score: until which value is it signifiant?

Thank you!
Chiara

Hi, Chiara,

A keyword list is a list of words that are 'unusually frequent' (keyword) or 'unusually infrequent' (negative keyword) in your corpus compared with a reference corpus. The calculation of the feature is done with chi-squared or log-likelihood in AntConc. See below for a discussion on the significance values:
https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!searchin/antconc/significance$20log$20likelihood/antconc/W8Si2_I3CUU/OyWtjnNmS3EJ

For p<0.05 the critical value is 3.84

The T-Score is used to find collocates. Essentially, it's doing the same thing but finding unusually frequent word pairs within the same corpus. A discussion on the statistic can be found here:
http://nlp.stanford.edu/fsnlp/promo/colloc.pdf

A list of significance values can be found here:
http://www.csu.edu.au/division/studserv/my-studies/maths/docs/6-z-and-t-scores.pdf

For p<0.05 the critical value is 1.96

I hope that helps.

Regards,
Laurence.
