Dear Dr. Laurence,
I'm using "key word" tool of Antconc to create a word list for pharmacy students. And I'd like to calculate Disperion index for each lemma. However, I couldn't find that function in Antconc. I hope that you could help me.
Thank you very much in advance!
Kind regards,
Hiệp

Are you supplying AntConc with lemmatized data? If not, the simplest approach is to process your corpus with a tagger tool like TagAnt, setting TagAnt to only keep the lemma forms. If you then load these data into AntConc with the default settings, all tools and stats will be applied to the lemma and you'll get exactly what you want.

Ideally, AntConc should be able to take in word+tag+lemma data and display the frequency/dispersion information for each or any of the components. Unfortunately, it can't now and defaults to the word form.

I hope that helps!

Laurence.

Just a quick follow on. The TagAnt output would be something like the following (based on my previous response):

Thank Dr Laurence,
I lemmatized datum with TagAnt with only tag form. When I ran the keyword tool, I saw frequencies, ranges, and keyness (LL) results. How could I calculate the dispersion for each type through Excel?

Hi,

"Range" is a (simple) dispersion measure. Of course, there are many others. The results contain all the data you need to calculate any one of the tens of different measures in the literature. Note that the Plot tool shows dispersion scores (using several possible statistics - in the settings page) per text, which might also be useful.

I hope that helps.

Laurence.

Thank you so much. Antconc and your support are very useful for my research.
Hiep!
