Google notification issue for pending members

Hi everyone,

Google Groups appears to have a long-term, unaddressed bug that causes notifications of member requests to not be reliably sent to the group owner. This has meant that many people have been unable to joint the AntConc discussion group, because their request has sat in the pending members box.

To address this problem, I will now allow anyone to join the group, but I will still moderate messages from new members. Hopefully, this will smooth the join up process, but also prevent a flood of spam messages to you all.
