Hi there,
I hope I haven't missed an obvious post about this topic. Despite a lot of time spent on Google trying to find this resource, I still have only been able to find the Brown corpus for use in AntConc. However, I'd like to use the more recent BNC for generating my keywords. The only place I know of is Mike Scott's website, but there it is offered in WordSmith format. I was wondering whether this can be converted or whether there is any AntConc resource out there?

Many thanks! (I'm using a Mac at home so over Christmas I can't access our school's WordSmith copy and want to work with AntConc)

Best,
Viola

It's on  the AntConc homepage, here:

If you type AntConc brown corpus in Google it's the first hit!

Laurence.

Thank you and sorry for the late reply.
In fact, I had already found the Brown list before writing that post (I was aware of it due to the UCREL MOOC). Instead, I was looking for a BNC frequency list, is there any that can be used for Antconc? Else I may have to go with the BE06.

Thanks.

Viola

Hi,

Sorry, I misread your previous email thinking you wanted a Brown list. But, the answer is the same. Have you tried a Google search? I typed "bnc frequency list" into Google and the first hit gave me a plain text BNC frequency list.
