I have not used Antconc before with a tagged corpus. I am now trying to use the part-of-speech tagged version of CLMET3.1.  I am using version 4.2.4 of Antconc.

When I enter the term “happy”  in the Search Query (with Words checked, but not Case or Regex) , I can see that there are many instances of happy tagged as an adjective  in the corpus, e.g.

However, entering “happy_JJ” with the same search query parameters, results in no hits.

I have consulted tutorials  about Antconc and regular expressions online, which suggest that this (happy_JJ) should work.

Thank you in advance!

antconc treats happy_JJ as happy and JJ two words.

I think you need to change the Settings shown below.
file - Open Corpus Manager... - raw files

Hi,

Actually, you don't need to change the token definition settings. The fact that you can see the tags in the display suggests that you haven't loaded your data correctly. When you build your corpus, use the AntConc corpus manager, and set the indexer to "simple_word_pos_headword". If you do this, AntConc will process the texts properly and then you can search with "happy_JJ" and only those results will appear.

I hope that helps!

Laurence.

Thank you! It's working now. I'm sorry for such a basic question.

Not at all! I'm glad it's working now. I'm sure others will benefit from the question, too.

Laurence.

Hello,
my name's Marlén Izquierdo. I'm a regular user of AntConc but lately I've had difficulties searching in a tagged corpus. My corpus is tagged ad-hoc for 'translanguaging', so I've tagged it using <transES> ....</transES> (my own tags) to mark items written in ES in an EFL text written by learners. I need to search for the actual/whole tag <transES> (with <...> included), but AntConc does not seem to recognise <.
I've tried going to Tool Settings but cannot see how to do or where.....
I'd appreciate it if you could assist me in this matter.
Thank you in advance
Marlén
