Hi Sahar,

The easiest way is to download the BNC reference wordlist that I provide on the AntConc homepage. Load that into the AntConc via the keyword tool preferences and then you can use it as a benchmark.

I hope that helps!

Laurence.

Dear Sahar,

Yes, but be careful to interpret your results correctly, because the various results in AntConc might contain noise from the tables and charts in your raw data.

Hello sir, I hope you are doing well. Sir I wanted to ask you that while building a corpus, may I exclude tables and charts from it as these can create noise in my interpretations when I will analyse them in antconc. To make it more clear, I will mention in my methodology that I didn't include tables and charts in my corpus. Sir plz guide me here, may I follow this method. It will be a great help from your side.

Dear Thanks for your help. But, methodologically, how should we treat tables or graphs? Should we take them out of the analysis?

Regards

You need to define what your data represents. If it represents data that includes tables/graphs, then you need to keep the tables/graphs in the corpus but be careful about noise that they generate. If your data is not supposed to include tables/graphs, you need to remove them from your corpus prior to analysis. So, the answer depends on what your corpus is supposed to represent.

I hope that helps.

Laurence.
