Hi Lee,

Sorry for the delay. I've just started a one-year sabbatical here in the UK.

In answer to your question, it sounds as though your reference corpus list is the problem. If you have a raw files for your reference corpus, you can use these directly within AntConc or create a word list *within* AntConc for the reference corpus and then save and use this. If you only have a word list for your reference corpus, I would open this in a text editor and edit the list to eliminate the problems you describe.

I hope that helps.

Laurence.

Hello.

First, let me say good work! AntConc seems to be quite a contribution to the field.

I am new to Corpus Linguistics and to AntConc and am still trying to find my way around. I have been managing to overcome most of my teething difficulties, but there is one thing I'd like to know, just to make my life a little easier.

At the moment, every time I load my reference corpus, I have to change the token definition settings (checking number, punctuation, symbol and mark) in order for it to load. Then, after loading it, I have to change the settings back so that punctuation isn't showing as part of the word. For example, if I don't change the settings back, "work" "work," and "work." would show up as three separate words in my keyword results.

This feels like I am over-complicating the process of simply loading my reference corpus and main corpus. Is there a simpler way around this? I can't seem to find one.
