AntConc won't load.txt files

Hi everyone,

I downloaded AntConc and AntFileConverter today.

I need AntFileConverter to convert PDF files to .txt files and then to load those .txt file into AntConc for concordancing. I managed to convert all my PDF files into .txt files, but AntConc won't load some of those .txt files. To be more precise, I can add the .txt file, but when I go to File View, the file is not displayed and I cannot search it. I tried to convert a PDF file to a Word file, and then to convert the Word file to a .txt file and I also tried to copy and paste the content from the Word file into a new .txt file, but the files still won't load.

I would greatly appreciate it if you can give me any idea of why this is happening.

Hi Milica,

Did you try opening the text file in a standard text editor like Notepad++?

Perhaps the PDF file was encrypted or password protected and the text file was not created.

Yeah, text files were definitely created and they can be opened in Notepad++. It's just that the text file content is not displayed in the AntConc. I have several PDF files converted into text files in the AntFileConverter. Some of these text files can load, but some of them cannot. When I open them both (one that can load and one that cannot loaded) in Notepad++, I do not notice any difference between them, but still one of them won't load.
