There seems to be quite a backlog of taxa to be approved. Is there anything I should know that's preventing that from happening?

I think cloning some of the active users would have solved the problem.

I suggest that after someone finishes reviewing a paper, they then email another AntCat user (or perhaps the entire list) asking them to review their entries. This might motivate/remind less active users to participate.

Good idea. You can use this list to communicate, if you want. The subject line might simply be "Approval Request".
