Hi,

I would like to know how to enable/disable H.265 in webrtc streams which is released in recent version of AntMedia server.

Can you please guide us in this configuration or settings.

Thanks

Hi there,
I'm just a guest. You can refer to this URL to find out enable H265 in Server Ant Media.

Thanks Can for quick help.

Also can you please help in understanding difference between LiveApp and WebRTCAppEE. Is there any technical difference between these two. And do I need to use only WebRTCAppEE for webrtc streaming.. ?

Cant we apply same H265 settings for LiveApp streams ... ??

Thanks for clarifications. I just tried h265. Looks good.

But I found that recording is not working and asking to enable H264 to enable recording. Cant we record streams as mp4 with H265 streams.. ?
If possible, please let me know how we can enable recording with H265.

And also, one more question on using H265. Will this increase or decrease CPU usage of server.. ?
And I also understand that network bandwidth will be consumed less than H264 I guess. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Vatti.sampath,

no there is not a difference between them. You can use both for WebRTC streaming. They are there so that you can have different settings for each app and streams assigned to the apps.
You can also apply the H265 settings to LiveApp streams

Hi Vatti.sampath,

I talked with the development team. H265 consumes more CPU power but less bandwidth.

Recording to mp4 files should be working for me when H265 is enabled. The name of the recorded videos end with "_265".

Can you send us the error you get when you enable recording? Did you try first enabling the recording then changing to h265 also?

Best Regards,
Can

Hi Vatti.sampath,

I will contact our developer responsible for h265 codec and return you with an answer. No idea about CPU usage. He should be able to answer that but network bandwidth should be definitely lower for H265.

Are you asking whether recording with H265 is fixed or not?

Enes.

Yes, because I have enabled H265 but there is no recording option

I'll do some quick testing here. You need to have at least 1 adaptive streaming enabled to have recording with h265

Sorry, I forgot to reply here. I made the test back then. You need to add adaptive streaming for recording.
In the guide you add, settings.encoderSettingsString=360,800000,64000: this enables adaptive streaming actually, you can also modify on dashboard.
This records the h265 stream.

Best Regards,
Enes.
