So, if trying to keep my expectations a little more realistic, with this elmt Skin Activating Solution essence, I was expecting a result on hydration, a calming effect and a more radiant complexion.

"Perfect for those looking to uncover the full potential of their skin, the Skin Activating Solution is a fast-absorbing, watery solution that reduces inflammation and irritation for an overall healthier, stronger complexion. This solution combines the powerful antioxidant properties of 14.70% Chinese skullcap extract and the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of 58% of green tea extract for an elevated skin-improving experience."

I use the elmt Skin Activating Solution every morning, directly after I have cleansed and dried my skin, before my other treatments and moisturizer.

I apply it to my face, including my eye contour and neck.

I pour the essence directly into the palm of my hand. I sprinkle it about four times, in order to have enough product in my palm. You can also use a cotton pad to apply it, but I find that you lose far too much product with that method.

I then apply it directly onto my skin, with a light pressure, using the palms of my hands until the essence is absorbed.

I finish by dabbing my skin lightly to ensure a complete penetration.

Recently, and probably thanks to the influence of Asian beauty, a new type of product appeared on most skincare addicts radar: essences. Like a kind of "beauty water" or "liquid skincare", an essence is a hybrid liquid product that is a cross between a toner and a serum. Can it replace them or do you have to add it to them? I'll tell you everything you want to know about essences!

This review is long overdue, I know! I tried this essence for the first time almost 4 years ago, so it's not really a genuine discovery anymore. I've even repurchased it several times since then. It's quite a unique product, with its own unique story and I think I owed it a dedicated article. So here is my review of the Vintage Single Extract Essence from the Korean premium skincare brand Amorepacific!

An essence based on fermented ingredients, with honey and propolis... How was I supposed to resist it? ;) Here is my review of the Quad Active Boosting Essence from the Korean skincare brand By Wishtrend!

I mentioned it last year, Mugwort (Artemisia) has become an inevitable ingredient in South Korean cosmetics! There are countless "100% Artemisia" essences now on the shelves of the K-Beauty shops! Today, I want to introduce you to one of the most popular, the Mugwort Essence from I'm From.

Water, The First Ingredient Introduced to The Skin. Natural Fermented Water targets benefits from the skin's foundation to awaken a renewed. This naturally fermented essence is instantly absorbed into skin to maximize the skin benefits without leaving skin feeling sticky. It also help create the best skin condition for next skincare steps, achieving a healthy, supple, and glowing skin.

It depends on where you are. Orders processed here will take 5-7 business days to arrive. Overseas deliveries can take anywhere from 7-16 days. Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email.

I'm not the biggest fan of essential oil scents or artificial strong perfumey scents mainly because I get a headache from them. Thankfully, the company didn't disappoint me with the scent! :) Like their Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion, there's no recognisable scent. It just doesn't smell like anything, just very plain, nothing potent at all.

This groundbreaking essence-in-mist helps skin adapt to resist the dehydrating effects of changing micro-climates, combatting dehydration, irritation, dullness. Every refreshing spray of this patented vapor-light mist instantly creates a veil of hydration that helps protect skin against these drying effects. An exclusive micro-nutrient bio-ferment and climate conditioning complex leaves skin hydrated, comforted, and radiant with a soft, smooth feel.

However, if your skin's very dry and you want that extra protecting film on top of skin or if you just want more therapeutic benefits, then I suggest you add 5-10 drops of your favourite face oil depending on your preference. And make sure to shake well before spraying :).

I was very surprised with the fact that it actually comes in a triangular shaped glass bottle. Because of the shape, it actually gives a quite nice grip in my hand when I use it. It feels way more luxurious and better than La Mer The Treatment Lotion packaging, which is made of plastic.

Although it contains ferments and fragrance-free, it doesn't smell aged or uncomfortable at all. There's definitely some kind of hue in the scent, but it smells very plain and there's almost no distinguished scent. Even better, it's watery light, but it absorbs into skin better than water :). There's no filmy or sticky residue afterwards, which will work well even on oily skin types as long as their skin isn't reactive to fermented ingredients.

My skin never really had bumps from fermented skincare, but my skin had a bit of trouble at the beginning when I started using Micro Essence. I was getting little bumps here and there, which I found weird as I didn't get any sensitivity from Micro Essence Mist. So I had to reduce the number of usages to once every other day for about 2 weeks. Then, I increased the frequency to nightly for a week. I concluded that it was just a temporary reaction, and I confirmed that it was no longer causing me breakouts. Once I was convinced, I started using it every day and night.

It doesn't make skin silky instantly as it's very lightweight, but I've noticed that it works brilliant as a first essence. Like many other generic fermented first essences on the market, it helps with skin texture and overall cell turnover. It's mildly exfoliating, so it's indeed great for any skin that needs a gentle treat. It doesn't give that resurfacing or glow overnight, so it is a different concept to peel pads and treatments on the market.

I'm not sure about the percentage of the fermented ingredients in the essence, but I recommend you to do a patch test before committing to buy as there are people whose skin doesn't get along very well with such ingredients. Other than that, it's a nice first essence overall. However, if you ask me if there's anything really special compared to the other fermented first essences on the market, then my answer to that is, not really.
