Hello Jiggle users,

We are having persistent issues with network based map servers when using Jiggle on VPN networks.  Sometimes it can even lead to the application freezing and crashing.

I've not had much luck getting Jiggle to read from local map data sources, although it seems like the application was originally set up to work that way.

Could any of you who do use local map layers share any best practices and property files that work for you?

Thank you,
Brian

Brian, I understand your frustration, It used to be you could use a number of maps (geological, landsat etc... ) unfortunately most mapping services moved to "tile" type of map plots which the openmap software ( a very old pre-tile version) cannot use. This is one of the things I would like the new Jiggle developer in Pasadena to upgrade our map capabilities to use the new "tile" version map data.

Until then we are stuck with ISTI world map (this map is contained in your "MAPDATA" folder  in your  Program Files\Jiggle folder (PC) or in your Applications folder (Mac)
and Demis world map which served over the web..

I attached our openmap.properties file (yours is in your props directory User\&username&\.jiggle (PC); $home\.jiggle (mac); which we use.

under Demis server we have this address that works...

A few months ago I talked to the Demis developer by email when we could not get any maps. He also gave me this alternate address you can try if the above does not work.
