Hi all, sorry for the unsolicited advertisement, but I figure this audience probably might have a few people that would want to attend...

--------------------------------------begin Advertisement-----------------------------------------

We are excited to announce the first 3-Day AQMS/ Earthworm Course @ San Francisco, CA on 4 – 6 December 2019.  This runs just prior to AGU.

AQMS stands for ANSS (Advanced National Seismic System) Quake Monitoring System in case you forgot. AQMS is currently used by the United States regional seismic and volcano networks, and since the port of the back-end database to PostgreSQL, organizations outside the ANSS have started to acquire and use it. One big reason for this is the manual picker called Jiggle and other standardized tools for post-processing earthquakes.

AQMS' primary input is Earthworm event output. Catalogs of triggers and events are stored in replicated Oracle or PostgreSQL databases, and are visible on duty review web pages. AQMS provides rapid magnitude computation, Me and ML, as well as providing Shakemap amplitude generation. Regional Moment Tensors are automatically computed. Alarming modules can run automatically or after human post-processing in Jiggle, the graphical Java re-picker.

This course will be useful to anyone managing or tuning an Earthworm system or trying to rapidly get up to speed on AQMS.

In the course, we will be providing an expert’s insight into the system. You will learn tricks and tips from our decades of experience operating and programming Earthworm and AQMS. You will learn how to set up regional automatic earthquake detection with the latest release of Earthworm and learn how AQMS can be used for post-processing.

Day 1 Earthworm – Administration & Troubleshooting
Good for beginners, also good as a refresher for those feeling a little rusty with configuration.
Day 2 Earthworm – Location and Magnitude Tuning
Tuning using student’s data (bring your own if you want!) and sample data sets provided by ISTI.
Day 3 AQMS – Administration & Tuning
If you are unfamiliar with AQMS, this is your chance to learn how visualization and post-processing works with the system

We will cover:
+ Real-time AQMS integration from an Earthworm system
+ Rapid magnitudes and amplitudes from AQMS
+ Metadata loading and use by AQMS – StationXML and Dataless
+ Data archiving modules for events and subnet triggers
+ Alarming – how AQMS sends out notifications and PDL injections
+ Post-processing with AQMS – considerations for Jiggle use and tips
