Can't access ec2_XXX vars after add_host

Hello !
I am using Ansible to add ec2 hosts to my infrastructure. I have noticed that after adding new ec2 instances to in-memory groups via the add_host module I cannot access any of the host specific ec2_XXX vars.
Is that by design ?
