Functionality of vmware_guest_disk module

Hi all,

I would like to use the vmware_guest_disk module. However, the description states: "Manage disks related to virtual machine in given vCenter infrastructure."

Is vCenter required for this module, or does it work like the vmware_guest where just the ESXi server alone can be specified as well?
