VictoriousMusic from the Hit TV Show is the debut soundtrack for the Nickelodeon TV series Victorious. The majority of the album was sung by the lead actress of the television series, Victoria Justice, with the Victorious cast being listed beside her. Some of the other singers on the album include Ariana Grande, Elizabeth Gillies, Miranda Cosgrove, Leon Thomas III, Matt Bennett, Daniella Monet and Avan Jogia. The majority of the album was written by Michael Corcoran, Dan Schneider, Savan Kotecha, Kool Kojak and CJ Abraham with Victoria Justice involved in the composition of "Best Friend's Brother" and Leon Thomas III on "Song 2 You".

The album was released August 2, 2011 by Nickelodeon Records, in association with Columbia.[3][4] All of the songs on this soundtrack appear on previously aired episodes of the first two seasons of Victorious. In the United States, the soundtrack debuted on the Billboard 200 albums chart at number five with 41,000 copies sold.[5] It also peaked at number one on the Kid Albums and Soundtracks charts.

The album features the heavy usage of synthesizers, drum machine and Auto-Tune, prominent in songs like "Freak the Freak Out" and "Make It Shine". The lyrical themes involve light romance, happy and sad, and assertions of self-worth.[1]

The mix of some tracks on the album are slightly altered in comparison to the versions heard in the show. The vocals of "Tell Me That You Love Me" are heard with a piano in the show, but the song has more instruments on the soundtrack. "Finally Falling" on this album removes Avan Jogia's opening verse. The show version of "All I Want Is Everything" has more prominent vocals from the other cast members. Full versions of the former two can be streamed at the show's student website, TheSlap.com.

"Make It Shine" was released as the first promotional single on April 13, 2010.[6] "Leave It All to Shine" was released June 10, 2011, as the second promotional single from the album and performed on the iCarly 90-minute special "iParty with Victorious" by the cast members of both iCarly and Victorious.[7]

Victorious in Concert (officially Victorious Featuring Victoria Justice: In Concert) was a one night only concert held on May 26, 2011 at the Avalon Theater[25] in Avalon, California.[26][27] The concert was free,[28][29] and was to promote the impending release of the soundtrack.[30]

Walmart Soundcheck financed the event, and filmed the show to air on the Walmart Soundcheck website.[26] Nickelodeon partnered with Walmart to release Victorious merchandise, and the concert aired on Walmart's in-store televisions during the back-to-school season.[32][33]

The album was released on June 5, 2012 by Nickelodeon Records, in association with Sony Music.[2][3] In Australia, the album was released on November 9 to iTunes and retail stores. To promote the release there, Victoria Justice came to Australia for her first ever Australian Promo Tour, where she visited Melbourne and opened a Victorious fashion line and then traveled to Sydney and Hamilton Island. Prior to the release of the album, "Make It in America" was serviced to Australian radio and media as a single from the soundtrack on November 1, 2012 by Sony Music.[4]

Similar to the show's previous soundtrack, some tracks of this album feature slightly different mixes in comparison with their television counterparts. For example, "Shut Up and Dance" appeared now as a solo performance by Justice in this album, while in the show, other cast members trade verses with her. On the other hand, the song "Countdown" featured more vocalization from Justice on the show than on the actual soundtrack.

"Countdown" was released as the promotional single on February 18, 2012.[5] The second promotional single "Take a Hint" was released on March 3, 2012, and became the most successful song from the album and the only to receive a Platinum certification.[6][7] The only single was "Make It in America", released on May 15, 2012.

Victorious 3.0: Even More Music From The Hit TV Show will be available via all digital service providers and a commemorative Hollywood Arts Fan Edition will be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores. This special 'ZinePak will include two bonus songs and a 48-page magazine consisting of behind-the-scenes images from the show, cast Q&A and a look back at the most memorable music moments from the series.

The third season of Victorious, a sitcom starring Victoria Justice as protagonist Tori Vega and in which characters perform songs in various episodes, officially premiered on January 28, 2012. In an interview for On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Justice revealed she was working on a new soundtrack for the show.[1] Seven songs performed at that point in the season were included on the soundtrack extended play titled Victorious 2.0: More Music from the Hit TV Show, released on May 30. The record reached number 18 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, while also appearing on the charts in the United Kingdom. It included songs such as "Make It in America" and "Take a Hint", which topped the Kid Digital Song Sales chart.

Although Victorious continued to gain popularity, even being nominated for Emmy Awards, Justice told for the first time to M magazine there won't not be a fourth season.[2] However, Nickelodeon decided to split the already filmed third season into two separate seasons. This resulted in the third season officially ending on June 30, with the remaining episodes airing as the fourth season starting on September 22.

The new record, titled Victorious 3.0: Even More Music from the Hit TV Show, was announced via a press release by Columbia Records on October 16, with a release date of November 6. The standard version was made available for pre-order as a digital download on iTunes.[3] However, it became available earlier on October 30 on TheSlap, which served as the official website for the series.[4] A deluxe version was released on compact disc exclusively at Walmart.[3] Like its predecessor, this record is only considered an extended play (unlike Victorious: Music from the Hit TV Show, the first soundtrack for the show, which is considered a full-length album).

The cover is in a different style than its predecessors, as it doesn't depict members of the series' main cast posing for the camera together. There is a large photo of Justice in the center of the cover. On the sides of the cover are two columns with smaller photos of the rest of the cast members: on the left is a column with photos of Thomas, Elizabeth Gillies, and Matt Bennett, and on the right is a column with photos of Ariana Grande, Avan Jogia, and Daniella Monet. Noticeably, Grande and Jogia have the same clothes as on the cover of Victorious 2.0: More Music from the Hit TV Show, except that Grande is wearing a backpack and Jogia is also wearing a jacket.

Like the previous records, this EP is credited as being performed entirely by the Victorious cast and Justice. Justice is credited as the featured artist of every song, except "You Don't Know Me" performed by Gillies and "365 Days" performed by Thomas. Grande is credited as a co-featured performer of "L.A. Boyz", a duet with Justice.

Of the extended play's seven total songs, six are original; the only exception is a cover of "Cheer Me Up", originally released by British singer Natasha Bedingfield in 2008. The period of work on this EP is unknown and difficult to determine since one song was performed in the second season, one song was performed in the third season, and five songs were performed in the fourth season. As an example of this, "Bad Boys", which was the last song performed in the fourth season and the entire series, may have been recorded already on July 11, 2011, even before the release of Victorious: Music from the Hit TV Show, based on Justice's tweet from the studio with Chris DeStefano and since it's their only known song.[5]

Victoria Justice and Leon Thomas III each co-wrote a song for the third time in a row. Thomas wrote "365 Days" on July 31, 2010, which may also make it the oldest song since it was the one used in the second season.[6] Justice contributed to "Faster Than Boyz", perhaps between February 12 and March 12, 2012.[7][8] This time Elizabeth Gillies also contributed writing one of the songs. The song written by her is "You Don't Know Me", which may have been created between January 2 and July 28, 2012.[9][10]
