I arrived today at Otopeni airport. Like a fool, I figure there would be little difference between a taxi and an Uber which showed 60 lei. I get in the taxi, at the taxi line for arrivals, with some shady looking MFer who pretends he doesn't speak english well. I almost went back after talking to him for like 5 seconds because I feel instinctively that he is shady. Foolishly again I decide what the hell, worst case I pay a bit more right ? Wrong! After getting in, 1 minute in, I realize the counter isn't on and try to figure out the price. He talks a lot in Romanian to confuse me, so I get a friend who speaks Romanian on the phone. She gets angry and argues with him and things get a bit heated, he wants 300. She tells me these are bad people, to immediately go out of the taxi for 100 lei and take an Uber or something. During this time I tell him insistently to stop about 4 times and he tells me no and insists on dropping me off near a colleague of his, all the while talking a lot. I started to get really worried about my safety and was considering that this might end up in some kind of physical fight or worse, some kind of ghetto trap. In the end he stops near another taxi, I give him 100 and gtfo, then call an Uber.
