The Scientists Network for Outcomes from Water and Sanitation (SNOWS) is hosting its 2nd Science Conference for early career scientists working in Africa. 

 

Theme : water, sanitation, health and Early Career Scientists in Africa

 

Date : 18 - 20 May, 2015

 

Are expected : PostDocs, PhD and M.Sc from various Specialisation : • Water Sanitation Epidemiology

Microbiology Engineering Analytical chemistry and Public Health .

 

Deadline : 23 March, 2015

SNOWS is one Consortium part of the African Institutions Initiative supported by the Wellcome Trust as well as the Consortium Afrique One. SNOWS was established among the other consortia and it consisted during the last phase of nine institutions among which 3 northern partners and six African institutions. The northern institutions are (i) London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (ii) University of East Anglia/UK (iii) University of Copenhagen (no more members). The six African institutions are (i) Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana (ii) Tswan University for Science and Technology (TUT) in South Africa (iii) University of Vendu in South Africa (iv) Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Uganda (v) Egerton University in Kenya (vi) University of Gezira in Sudan

Generally when an academic conference is being held, researchers and students are given an opportunity to present their research either orally or as printed posters. The request put out by conference organisers to invite prospective participants to present their research is called a "Call for Abstracts." Usually, the abstracts submitted are screened and those deemed to be relevant to the conference and of the best quality are selected for oral presentation or poster presentation. Often people who are selected for presentations are exempted from paying conference participation fees or given a discount.
