Principal photography commenced on 20 August 2021.[21] The first schedule took place in Mumbai.[22][23] In October 2021, the second schedule commenced in Delhi.[24] The next schedule was scheduled for early 2022, but it was delayed due to the Omicron variant spreading.[25] Finally, the third schedule kicked off in April 2022 near Mumbai and Delhi.[26][27] In August 2022, it was announced that television actors Arjun Bijlani, Shraddha Arya, Sriti Jha, and Arjit Taneja had filmed a small sequence for the film.[28] In the same month, Dharma Productions released a video announcing the film's wrap except for a song, whose shoot was delayed due to Bhatt's pregnancy. The song, "Tum Kya Mile", was filmed in March 2023 in Jammu & Kashmir, thus wrapping the film.[29] Johar has said that the "Tum Kya Mile" sequence was inspired by the romantic songs in Yash Chopra's films while the "Dhindora Baje Re" sequence was inspired by the scale and grandeur of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's films.[16] He also paid tribute to actress Sadhana with the song "What Jhumka?", adapted from her song "Jhumka Gira Re" in the film Mera Saaya (1966).[30]
'Modern Bollywood songs just don't have the same vibes that older Hindi songs of yore (often called "evergreen melodies) had,' is often a qualm one can hear in Indian movie theaters. Many of the Bollywood tracks of the late 20th century have struck and continue to strike a chord with generations of Indians.
The featured songs in the film are courtesy of the collaboration between Dharma productions and music RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group owned music label 'Saregama'. This collaboration was announced back in 2021.
Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt are the main protagonists of the film. The story also features a romantic infatuation between the characters portrayed by veteran actors Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi. The catalyst driving this storyline are these songs.
This sequence also saw the placement of Saragama's portable music player 'Carvaan'. The music player hosts a collection of over 5,000 old Hindi tracks. The placement comes within a track that amalgamates some of these songs.
Also works very well with Ranveer-Alia casting! Just looking at this song, Ranveer is a way WAY better dancer than Alia, and way more fun in general in songs. So having him be sort of dance around her and try to jolly her into joining in works well with his skills and her skills. Meanwhile, having her give us character beats, showing how she is loosening up and feeling happier, works to her strengths. It feels a little bit Humpty Sharma in a good way, the hero is heart on his sleeve over the top, and Alia keeps her feelings inside.
Tum Kya Mile, the first song from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, released a few weeks ago. This was followed by the foot-tapping What Jhumka, sung by Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi. Both the songs are trending big and are universally liked by the fans.
No matter what the storyline is or who is featured in the movie, we enjoy watching most films directed by Karan Johar because of their grandeur, extravagance, and larger-than-life presentations. There are so many factors behind the dominance of his movies in the Bollywood industry and two significant reasons are the romantic songs and their splendid locations.
