This historic venue located in the heart of Downtown Seattle is one of only two operating cinemas in the world with the capability of screening three-strip Cinerama films on its epic 97-foot curved screen consisting of 2,000 vertical strips.

85 cinemas from the network of Europa Cinema will participate in this edition. Each cinema has selected a European film based on the interests of their audiences, to provide a tailored cinematic experience. This edition carries on with the novelty introduced last year, which is the possibility for cinemas to select family-friendly films to attract young audiences to the initiative, as well as classic films to connect citizens with our shared cinematic cultural heritage.

To propose a sweeping experience beyond the screenings, most cinemas will organise complementary activities such as presentations, Q&A sessions with directors, actors, or other film crew members, and engaging debates. These activities aim to give audiences the opportunity to discuss the films with fellow enthusiasts.

This initiative will reach out to more than 10,000 cinemagoers in numerous cities across Europe, connecting audiences around a shared European identity built on diversity. This initiative has considerably grown throughout the years.

The first edition in 2018 counted 34 participating theatres; participation grew to 54 in 2019 raised to 67 in 2020 and involved no less than 71 venues in 2021. In 2022, 75 cinemas took part in the initiative. This year, the number raises to 85.

The Leica Cine 1 continues the Leica legacy: Moving people through imagery. The invention of the 35 mm standard by Leitz chief developer Oskar Barnack in 1914 proves just how closely Leica is linked to cinema: Barnack's idea was to use 35 mm cinema film for his 35 mm camera. To do this, he doubled the cinema single-frame format from 18x24 mm to 24x36 mm. On the other hand, the legendary Leitz/Leica Pradovit projectors were produced for decades, and the high-end cine lenses are currently made in Germany. Designed and manufactured to accompany cinematographers in the masterful creation of their visions. And now, with Leica Cine 1, right in your living room.

That authentic cinema feeling, right in your home. Feel closer to every moment thanks to the latest technology, such as the digital micro-mirror device system (DMD) and the ultra-short throw lens which projects a large screen size of 80, 100, or 120 inches from a short distance.
