I have a real problem. I have been using Dropbox for all my photos... approx 60,000 which many have been edited in Lightroom. It seems that Dropbox and Lightroom do not work together, so that each time Dropbox syncs the files, a new file is created. According to Dropbox I have over 327,000 photo files. which has slowed down my computer to a crawl. I cannot see these files or photos. I really do not want all the various versions of each photo as separate files.
What I really wanted to do was transfer from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom CC so I could use adobe cloud. I do not have room on my computer to transfer my catalog and someone at support tried to help me, would not listen when I said there is not enough room and now everything in Lightroom has disconnected and I am in a desperate situation because they cannot restore it. Basically Adobe support made a mess and has left me without a solution. Most of my photos are missing in the Lightroom Catalog.

I found that while I had syncing on, our internet speed was used up and we could not watch a movie via Netflix so I had to pause syncing. So I called Dropbox support trying to find out why. Apparently pausing sync caused further problems. I have been trying to keep my photos online only rather than on my computer, to save space.
My photos have disappeared from my Lightroom catalog because Lightroom support screwed up. I called to ask a question about adobe cloud, I gave them control of my computer and the next thing I knew, Mohammed tried to transfer my catalog from Classic Lightroom to Lightroom CC. It failed because I did not have enough room on my computer, but he insisted and pressed continue... now it is stuck in limbo.
I am having the same problem! Not only does adobe lightroom take every file of mine out of dropbox and downloads it into lightroom, it also rearranges folders. If I were to go in and 'select' a few pictures to go through it would take those pictures and tuck it away into some random folder that took me hours to find! I use both my computer and my laptop for working on pictures, so it makes it so much easier to use dropbox. However, because of this problem it just becomes a giant mess.
Go buy one or two external hard drives, large enough to store all your images.
Then try downloading two images that look like duplicates. If they are, you'll need to comb through what's on Dropbox and delete from there, THEN start thinking asbout downloading to your computer.
OMG , same here some major Folders containing all productions files and clients works, has magically disapeared from my Dropbox folders. i thought dropbox has done a crash and do something wrong at first. But after doing a search with the folders name, i actually found them, and the 3 projects that have disapeared were magically in the Creative Cloud Files folder.
Earlier today, I was asked how to get a collection of photos off of an iPad. Thinking I had the answer, I started walking the individual through the process. I soon discovered I did not have the entire process down. I took a couple of minutes to get smarter on the subject, and here is one possible method for transferring images for the iPad native photo app to Dropbox. I also included a process for transferring photos from Dropbox to the iPad. Before I explain these processes, I will explain how to capture a screenshot with the iPad.
There are times when you need to capture an image of something being shown on your iPad, for example, to explain how to transfer photos to and from Dropbox. In order to capture an image, you need to be knowledgeable of two buttons:
Yes,
There is an other way to transfer all of your photos from iPad to Dropbox by meaning of USB cable and iTune. Just plug in your iPad to your computer and all photos will be sync to your Dropbox after a simple click.
OK, so i read this thread about a month ago when I was sooooooo frustrated with my ipad and getting my pictures on it. I decided to stop using iphoto because i have all of my pictures backed up in dropbox and there is no bulk download from dropbox to iphoto. So, what i have tried and it works great for me is : i bought portfolio pro, $15, and from there, you can do bulks downloads. So easy and fast! Just know that the app does take a good bunch of space which was another of my problem.. I am a photo addic.. So what i am now doing is resize my pictures from dropbox by using Wappwolf first. It is free up to 100 pictures resized a day or $5 for a week, for 1000 pictures a day. And then, i bulk download my resized pictures.. OMG.. I have been looking for how to do that for monthss. I seriously must have lost a full week of my life on the net reading all types of things to make this happen. So, i thought i would share the love.. hopefully, that would help at least one person now or next year.
Just know, for any of those 2 steps. Resize or download by bulk of 100 or 200 max or it might freeze. Stil great way to go.. It worked for me..
Good luck
Always when I move photos from my iPad to Dropbox or even to an album created, photos do not move but are copied and thus remain in the camera filling up the iPad space while the same photos will be in the created album as well as in the Dropbox. So, how do I move the photos and not just copying and having many duplicates?
I am trying to figure out how to move pictures photostreamed from someone else from my iPad to my pc. I downloaded Drop Box but it will only do photos taken with the iPad. Does anyone know what I need to do?
It will not delete any photos from your iPhone/iPad albums or Photo Stream. In fact, as of iOS 7 no iOS App Store apps are able to delete photos from iOS devices because there is no public Apple API to do this.
Backup your photos & videos from iPhone, iPad and Android devices to Windows PC, Mac or Linux over the local Wi-Fi network. Photos & videos are transferred in full resolution with all metadata intact.
Send photos & videos directly from your Windows PC, Mac or Linux to iPhone, iPad and Android devices over the local Wi-Fi network. Received photos & videos are imported directly into the Camera Roll, Android Image Gallery or user-defined album.
The FREE PhotoSync Companion for Windows PC and Mac makes the photo and video transfer experience quick and easy. Just drag your photos and videos onto the PhotoSync icon to beam to your phone and tablet. On Mac computers the PhotoSync Companion enables direct import into the macOS Photos App.

Dropbox is a cloud-based storage app that allows you to back up data such as photos or files from your mobile device.
A Dropbox basic account is free and includes 2GB of space. If you need more storage space, Dropbox has an option to upgrade to a paid account. You can find out more about Dropbox costs here.

I believe your best option may be to use IFTTT Opens a new window to automate new photos to go to a folder in dropbox, I have just checked and this would be possible using the IFTTT app for iphone Opens a new window. You can put them in whatever folder you like in dropbox.
Here is what my wife and I do, my account is the main Dropbox on the house computer and It always stays signed in, on her phone she is signed into her own separate account which only has one folder and that's the "camera uploads folder", I then had her share that folder with me, so now when pull up my Dropbox account on the home computer or my phone, I can see her Shared "Camera uploads" folder which I renamed "Camera uploads from Sonya". She doesn't use her account for anything else but her camera uploads. She just takes pictures and they go right into my account via the shared "camera uploads" folder. Works perfect for us, her pictures are right there in one folder and my pictures are in another. hope this is useful, good luck.
IFTTT brilliant! I just set up the app and connection to my dropbox. The goal - to have wife and kids photos sync to folders in my large dropbox so I can manage archiving from this one location. Any recipes to assist with this would be most gratefully accepted!
Also...some of the photos uploaded from to my Camera Uploads in my Dropbox are ones that I had already downloaded to a laptop where I have all my other photos downloaded from my phone. I would now like to move these to my big new Dropbox account. The Camera Uploads folder would be fine as locations go, but will it handle duplicates (I've never changed the default filenames) and then simply inherit the folder structure I have now? And is dragging it to my Dropbox Camera Uploads folder the best way to go for this, or should I move it to some other folder like "Previously Downloaded to Laptop"? My goal is avoid ending up wit duplicates and to have all the photos in essentially one place, i.e., Dropbox.
I currently have my family tree in dropbox and open it from there. After reading some of the comments regarding dropbox I am wanting to move my tree out of dropbox and just keep my backups there. How do I move it out of dropbox and just keep my backups there?
On mac just copy all your files from dropbox and paste them in a new folder on your computer. Then tell RM8 in settings where to access the files ands where to put backups. Delete any files left in dropbox to avoid file confusion later.
