Our local has signed a contract with a non-profit called Social Movement
Technologies. It's a real breakthrough because we will represent SMT's
freelance staffers and they will become members of Guild Freelancers.
Those folks are not journalists, so this represents a significant
broadening of our base.
Carl Hall, our executive officer, would like us to write an article
about this for our Web site and possible for the The Newspaper Guild's
national site as well.
Pays the usual $75 for 500 or so words. Any takers? I'd like to get this
done in about a week. I'll send the writer a copy of the contract. It's
an easy story, but has to be written carefully.
(Kudos to Carl and Kat Anderson, our administrative officer, who made
this happen.)
Cheers,
Bill Snyder
