Having trouble getting deadbeat clients to pay? Our colleagues in
Chicago have an agreement with Keynote Consulting, or KCI. Keynote,
which has a good rating from the Better Business Bureau, will do what
bill collectors do -- chase down clients who haven't paid. They get a
cut of 25%. If they don't succeed, you pay zero. If it goes to court, it
gets more complex, because there are legal fees involved that you'd pay
-- if you win, you get the money back, less KCI's cut of 35%.
I don't see a downside to this so we will likely go ahead and sign a
contract. I'll let you know when all the details are worked out.
