Participation at the Chuy's parade last Saturday was tremendous. It
drizzled on us as we were standing around waiting for kickoff, but as
soon as we stepped off it stopped raining! Hallelujah! Santa coats
of all kinds were sported by the hounds, and the float looked
terrific. The crowds loved us, especially the kids. Special thanks
to Accomplice, Athena, Lantana, Niobe, Legendary, Dozer, Pia, Murphy,
Gabby, Penny, Lucius, Maya, Netta, Gracie, Twiggy, Racer, Enzo and
Maggie. Watch for pictures soon and mark your 2012 AGA calendar to
attend the parade Saturday, November 24th.
THE DOGFATHER NEEDS YOU (DESPERATELY)!
Two areas are needing help. Please help out during this busy holiday
season as we try to squeeze in both human and hound commitments.
1. Doug & Linda Lee host a Meet & Greet in Harker Heights at Petco
the first Saturday of every month from 1-3...that means TOMORROW,
DECEMBER 3RD. They have NO FOSTER dogs to show, but having their
greys plus yours would help with the education and possible adoption
process. Please consider joining them tomorrow. It's a short drive,
and they would appreciate your special effort to get there. M&Gs are
no fun when you're the only one there. Call Linda at 254-535-0018 or
text to doug...@embarqmail.com for more information.
2. AGA needs foster families particularly on the south side of
Austin. At many of the M&G events down there Craig Leach is the only
one with adoptable dogs. We could easily double the number of dogs
adopted down there if we had more to show off!
With regard to fosters, Bob is now housing SIX (6) at his home.
Unfortunately, none of them are cat safe so they have to be fostered
where there are NO cats or small animals. Six is alot, folks. Can't
someone take one of them?
PINTS FOR PUPS - TOMORROW
The Hops & Grain Brewery located at 507 Calles St. has invited AGA to
participate in their annual fund raiser known as “Pints for Pups”,
Saturday, December 3 from 12- 3! Bob Trapp (917-7668) is the
coordinator for this event, and he’s asking for your participation, if
possible – the more attending, the more exposure and funds when it’s
over. Hounds and humans are invited – the more the merrier! There
are alot of festivities going on around this time of year, but we’ve
always got time to participate in a fund raiser, don’t we?
AGA HOLIDAY PARTY – DECEMBER 10th
Join us for a humans-only holiday event for friends of Austin
Greyhound Adoption! Come out and visit with other AGA adopters and
volunteers, have some holiday fun, and maybe even get some shopping
done! Cookbooks, calendars and other greyhound holiday items will be
available for purchase at the event. If you are on the AGA mailing
list, you should have received an email invitation via
SignUpGenius.com. Please RSVP and sign up to bring either an appetizer
or a dessert to share. Please also bring a wrapped gift valued at $15
or less for a white elephant gift exchange. We hope you can join us!
(If you did not receive your invitation, please email
fundr...@austingreyhounds.com and we will make sure you get your
invite!) LOCATION: Mac & Rob Shelton's House: 209 Finn Street,
Lakeway.
FIRST EVER – AGA COOKBOOK
The cookbook was edited by Tish Strandboge, Mac Shelton, Heather
Hodnett and Tracey Stark, and it's something you will want for
yourself and for friends. If you can't make it to the holiday event
but would like to purchase a copy of the first ever AGA Cookbook, you
can make your purchase on eBay here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330642561268.
You may also contact us at fundr...@austingreyhounds.com to arrange
your purchase. Cookbooks are $20 each and all proceeds go to the
hounds! Thanks for your support of this important fundraiser.
SANTA PAWS IS COMING TO TOWN!
AGA has been invited to participate in the Southpark Meadows Petsmart
Santa Paws!!! Santa Paws is an opportunity for all pets to have their
picture taken with Santa with proceeds going to non-profit animal
rescue groups. We will need a few volunteer elves to take and print
pictures, but most importantly we need a volunteer or two to play
Santa!! The Santa suit and all photography equipment will be provided;
we just show up, have fun and earn money for the hounds!! AGA will
receive $5.00 from each picture taken the day we participate. When?
Sunday, December 18th, time: 11:00 – 4:00
(Petsmart anticipates this date to be one of their busiest days for
Santa pictures and potentially very profitable for AGA. PLEASE
consider volunteering, time slots are available from 11:00 – 1:30 and
1:30 – 4:00. Email Heather Hodnett at mhho...@aol.com to volunteer.
REMEMBER: THE REINDEER JUST WEREN'T FAST ENOUGH, SO SANTA USED
GREYHOUNDS. GET BEHIND YOUR HOUND, HANG ON, AND WE'LL GET THROUGH
DECEMBER. DON'T FORGET TO HUG THEM HOUNDS.
